Page Request Numbers
The following table lists the keywords corresponding to those articles in the Encyclopedia of Laser Physics and Technology, below which vendors can place links to their websites. It also shows the page hits which the articles have received in recent months.
Some explanations:
- The page hit numbers have been generated with the program AWStats, which is running on the server of the hosting provider, and should not include page hits caused by known search engine spiders. It can thus be assumed that the displayed page hits are nearly completely corresponding to human visitors.
- Occasionally, one article suddenly receives many more page hits than normal. If an analysis of the log files shows that these page hits are not “real”, they are not counted; the table then contains a question mark. If they are real – e.g. when an article is cited in some newsletter or in an RSS feed –, advertising fees may be manually adjusted, as the page hits may soon return so some normal level.
- The encyclopedia contains many more articles, which are not listed here (e.g. because they do not have direct relation to some products). However, advertisers may request to include additional articles in the list, which also seem interesting for placing vendor links.
- The total number of page hits in the second-last row is the total for all pages with encyclopedia articles (not only for those listed in the table).
- The page hit number in the last rows applies to all encyclopedia-related pages (e.g. the encyclopedia home page, this page, or the Photonics Spotlight), on which the banners also appear.
- The page hits of other pages of the RP Photonics website (e.g. the entry page) are not counted at all in the list above.
