Buying Crystal Ovens

Top-level product category: various devices

Related product category: nonlinear crystal materials

Temperature-controlled crystal ovens are used to maintain precise temperatures for nonlinear frequency conversion devices. Accurate temperature control is crucial for optimizing the phase matching conditions in nonlinear optical processes.

Making Good Purchase Decisions

RP Photonics helps you to not only to find all relevant suppliers, but also to make good purchasing decisions.

NEW: Structured Decision Process

We recommend that you apply best practice by using the following structured process: Go through the following expandable sections, complete the form and finally come to a purchase decision. You can then print that to a PDF for documenting the process.

(Various further improvements of this feature will come soon.)

1. Learn about the technology

It is important to sufficiently understand the technology before buying.

With its comprehensive resources, RP Photonics helps you to well prepare purchase decisions:

2. Define your requirements

It is important to fully understand and define your requirements before you buy.

We recommend that for your preparation and for inquiries to suppliers, you draw up a list of clear specifications according to your specific needs:

To help you, we have already listed some aspects we recommend you consider when buying crystal ovens. Of course, there may be other aspects that are relevant to your specific case.

Otherwise, you will need to talk to your technical colleagues.

If you check this, the criteria will be inserted into the inquiry mail if below you use a button titled "Get quotation".

If you cannot sufficiently clarify your requirements, you may want to get technical consultancy from RP Photonics.

3. Find suppliers

We suggest three steps:

  • Below, you can find our list of suppliers for crystal ovens. Use the checkboxes to mark possibly suitable suppliers.
  • The selected suppliers will appear below this list, along with your list of specifications. You can then indicate which specifications they meet according to your research.
  • Based on the results, you can finally choose a supplier that is hopefully a good enough fit.

crystal ovens

Our range of PPLN ovens are specifically designed to provide robust thermal management of PPLN crystals.

All of our crystals are supplied clip-mounted, ready for use in our ovens. The clips are easily positioned into the oven using the auto-locating pins, allowing the PPLN clips to be swapped with minimal realignment of the optical train. Finely sprung pins in the oven lid hold the PPLN crystal clip securely in place. The oven and PPLN crystal can then be mounted in any orientation, flexible to your choice of optical arrangement.

We also offer temperature controllers for use with our crystal ovens.

crystal ovens

The Digital Thermo Control (DTC) nonlinear crystal oven models DTC-A, DTC-B, DTC-C offer excellent temperature stability of ±0.1 K in the temperature range 30–71 °C.

The DTC–A model ovens is suitable for crystals with apertures 2 × 2, 3 × 3, 4 × 4 or 5 × 5 mm. The DTC-B is for crystals with apertures 6 × 6, 8 × 8, 10 × 10, 12 × 12 or 15 × 15 mm. Still larger nonlinear crystals are supported by the DTC-C oven.

The new DTC-HT model is designed for high operation temperature (up to 220 °C) NCPM applications.

On request, we can manufacture ovens for crystals with aperture up to 60 × 60 mm or even larger.

Temperature settings are stored in the internal memory of the thermo controller and can be easily changed in the Geola ThermoTool software provided together with DTC oven, which is connect via USB cable. After the temperature is set and DC 24 V power is applied, the oven works in a completely autonomous regime, and the DTC does nott require any cable connection with the PC.
