Where to Buy Surface-emitting Semiconductor Lasers
While most diode lasers are of the edge-emitting type, there are also surface-emitting lasers. VCSELs have the whole laser resonator within a thin semiconductor structure, while VECSELs contain at least one additional external laser mirror. While VECSELs serve as low-cost single frequency sources, VECSELs can offer the combination of high power and high beam quality, but often not single-frequency emission.
