An ultrafast laser may simply contain a mode-locked laser, but ultrafast laser systems can also contain amplifier systems for getting much higher pulse energies and peak power. Wide parameter ranges in terms of pulse energy and duration, average power and peak power, pulse repetition rate and wavelength are covered by available ultrafast laser systems.
