Measuring gauges offer precise, easy-to-use measurement capabilities in a range of different sizes or types including calipers or micrometers. Spherometers are extremely specialized measurement tools that determine the surface radii of convex or concave objects. Standards tables are also included for quickly referencing radii information.

autocorrelators E

Our compact ultrafast autocorrelator is used to characterize ultrafast laser pulses originating from Ti:sapphire and Yb:doped lasers. Featuring a built-in two-photon absorption (TPA) detector, this autocorrelator is ideal for measuring ultrafast femtosecond and picosecond laser pulses at wavelengths from 700 to 1100 nm. The highly sensitive TPA detector allows for measurements of ultrafast laser pulses with high sensitivity by eliminating the need for angle tuning of the SHG nonlinear crystal.

Ball Lenses are commonly used to improve signal quality in fiber coupling applications, or for use in endoscopy or bar code scanning applications. Edmund Optics offers a variety of ball lenses in a range of substrates for performance in the ultraviolet to the NIR. Half-ball lenses are also available to ease mounting or system integration.

TECHSPEC® dichroic laser beam combiners are designed to efficiently combine or separate multiple laser beams at a 45° angle of incidence. Edmund Optics offers laser beam shaping solutions to collimate laser beams, transform beam profiles, convert beam shapes, and much more. Flat top beam shapers, used to convert Gaussian beams into flat top beams with a uniform intensity distribution, are available optimized for laser wavelengths associated with Nd:YAG, fiber, and CO2 lasers. Cylinder Lenses, offered in broadband and laser line versions, are ideal for laser machining or medical applications, which require laser light shaping in only one axis. Slow axis collimators and fast axis collimators are also available, which are ideal for collimated laser bars and laser diodes, respectively.

Beam shutters are used to control the level of light exposure to an optical lens or lens system in a range of applications such as imaging or microscopy. Shutters are manually or motor controlled irises that may be opened or closed to control the level of light that passes through the aperture. Shutters provide an accurate, stable level of light transmission that may be easily adjusted or maintained for repeated implementation. A number of motorized shutters are also available that include several iris control modes for increased versatility.

Edmund Optics offers plate, cube, pellicle, polka dot, and specialty prism beamsplitters in a variety of anti-reflection coatings or substrates. Standard beamsplitters, which split incident light by a specified ratio that is independent of wavelength or polarization state, are ideal for illumination subassemblies or as one way mirrors. Dichroic beamsplitters, which split light by wavelength, are often used as laser beam combiners or as broadband hot or cold mirrors. Non-polarizing beamsplitters, ideal for laser beam manipulation, split light by overall intensity. Polarizing beamsplitters, often used in photonics instrumentation, split light by polarization state. Edmund Optics’ anti-reflection coatings are designed for the ultraviolet (UV), visible, or infrared (IR).

Brewster plates E

TECHSPEC® Brewster windows are designed to present a circular profile when oriented at Brewster’s angle (55.57°). They feature laser grade surface quality and parallelism, in addition to limiting transmitted wavefront distortion to λ/10. When used at 55.57°, these windows minimize the loss of p-polarized light, ideal for use within laser cavities and for producing linearly polarized light.

Coherent® Diamond C-Series CO2 lasers offer reliability with more than 50,000 operating hours, along with superior beam quality and stability. These lasers are ideal for a wide range of applications from marking and engraving to material processing. They are a compact option with an integrated RF power supply. Maximum output power ranges from 20 to 40 watts, and can be controlled through pulse width modulation (PWM).

Edmund Optics offers mounted and unmounted retroreflection prisms in a range coating options. Reflective surfaces are available with reflection coatings including aluminum and silver. Entrance surfaces are available with VIS 0° anti-reflection coatings. Due to their complex shape, mounting a retroflection prism can be difficult. To ease system integration, mounted retroreflection prisms featuring ¼-20 tapped holes are available.

Edmund Optics selection of cylinder lenses include achromatic, acylinder, plano-convex, or plano-concave. Achromatic cylinder lenses provide additional color correction by minimizing chromatic aberration. Hybrid acylinder lenses are ideal for color correction, in addition to minimizing spherical aberration. Edmund Optics offers cylinder lenses with glass or plastic substrates, or with circular, rectangular, or oblong dimensions. Multiple anti-reflection coating options are available from the ultraviolet to the infrared, including UV-AR, UV-VIS, MgF2, VIS-NIR, VIS 0°, or NIR I. They are ideal for adapting imaging systems for a number of different applications or environments that would otherwise be too bright by limiting the amount of light in an area to manageable levels. Some diaphragms may be mounted directly onto imaging components or may be positioned separately in front of light sensors, offering multiple implementation choices. gradient index lenses E

Our GRIN lenses are designed to provide a 0.55 numerical aperture, and are available with two working distance options. Lenses with a zero working distance are ideal for collimation of single and multi-mode optical fibers and laser diodes because the lens can be positioned and glued directly to the emission source. For focusing applications, or in instances where the lens can’t be in direct contact with the emission source, all lenses are available with a small working distance as well. Each lens is available uncoated (approximately 12% reflection loss), or with a BBAR coating option for R < 0.5%.

Our general purpose integrating sphere systems are designed to spatially integrate radiant flux in order to measure optical radiation. They can be coupled with a sensor to create radiometers, photometers, or spectroradiometers in order to measure the total geometric flux emanating from a light source or the flux density of an illuminated area. Additionally, these sphere systems can be used to measure the output of high power lasers and laser diodes or to measure the reflectance and transmittance of materials.

The laminated credit card-style is for low power sources and reflective viewing only. The 25-mm disk and clip-on wand style is used when frequent component positioning is required. The removable disk is positionable at an optics location to enable precise alignment, while wand format permits handling into beam path. Optical bench-mountable head format has large active area and ¼-20 threaded mounting for standard imperial post/post holder integration.

neutral density filters E

Edmund Optics offers a wide variety of neutral density filters for ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared applications. Neutral density filter kits are available, which include a number of filters in a range of optical densities. Stepped ND filters are also available, which offer a number of optical densities on a single filter, ideal for lab or R&D integration.

nonlinear crystal materials E

Nonlinear crystals of either β-barium borate (BBO) or lithium triborate (LBO) are used for frequency conversion of laser sources. BBO crystals feature thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm to minimize group velocity mismatch and are ideal for frequency doubling or tripling of Ti:sapphire and Yb:doped laser pulses. The critical and noncritical phase matching LBO crystals are ideal for second or third harmonic generation of Nd:YAG and Yb:doped lasers.

Nonlinear crystals with 20-10 surface quality and λ/10 (LBO) or λ/8 (BBO) surface flatness provide the broad transparency range and large nonlinear coefficient needed for the harmonic generation of fundamental laser frequencies. Each crystal features a protective anti-reflection (AR) coating that minimizes reflection and limits fogging from ambient conditions.

Our high stability variable frequency optical choppers each include a set of chemically blackened photoetched chopping discs. Lens tissue and cloth are ideal for removing oils or residue without the danger of scratching the surface of an optical component. Our compact ultrafast autocorrelator is used to characterize ultrafast laser pulses originating from Ti:sapphire and Yb:doped lasers. Featuring a built-in two-photon absorption (TPA) detector, this autocorrelator is ideal for measuring ultrafast femtosecond and picosecond laser pulses at wavelengths from 700 to 1100 nm. The highly sensitive TPA detector allows for measurements of ultrafast laser pulses with high sensitivity by eliminating the need for angle tuning of the SHG nonlinear crystal.

rod lenses E

Designed for use in a variety of laser and imaging systems, these components are available in a range of micro sizes for integration into a host of OEM applications. Custom sizes, variations in polishing/ ground surfaces and additional coatings are available upon request.

TECHSPEC® rod lenses are polished on the circumference and ground on both ends. Optical performance is similar to a cylinder lens. Collimated light passing through the diameter of the rod lens will be focused into a line. N-BK7 and UV fused silica substrates are available for a variety of UV, visible and NIR applications.

variable optical attenuators E

Edmund Optics offers EO motorized attenuators where s-polarized and p-polarized beams are separated with a rotating quartz λ/2 waveplate. Varying the rotation of the waveplate changes the intensity ratio of the two beams without causing energy fluctuations. These attenuators are mounted with a high contrast polarizer allowing for better than 3000:1 contrast (Tp:Ts). EO motorized attenuators feature an intuitive software interface and compact design, simplifying system integration for precise remote control of laser intensity.

Edmund Optics offers a variety of waveplates with crystalline or polymer materials, including multiple order, zero order, or achromatic waveplates. Polymer waveplates offer superior performance over a wider range of incidence angles. Multiple order waveplates are ideal for use with monochromatic light that deviates less than 1% of the waveplate’s design wavelength. Zero order retarders offer high performance over wider wavelength or temperature ranges. Achromatic waveplates offer the most constant performance over the widest wavelength or temperature ranges.
