Founded in 2007 by Dr. Victor X. Focuslight now has four major businesses: Diode Laser, Laser Optics, Automotive Application (LiDAR) and Optical Systems, with facilities in Xi’an (China), Dongguan (China), Haining (China) and Dortmund (Germany). Focuslight Technologies Announces new DLight®S Series Diode Laser System
Xi'an, China – October 31, 2021 – Focuslight Technologies, a global provider of high-power diode lasers and micro-optics, has announced their DLight®S series Diode Laser System.
Focuslight Technologies has launched the DLight®S series diode laser system for laser wafer annealing. This system combines eutectic bonding technology, thermal management and thermal stress control technology for photon generation and beam transformation and beam homogenization technology for photon control. DLight®S generates 70 μm, extremely narrow line laser beam with an aspect ratio of 160:1. Such laser system provides continuous energy output up to 1800 W/mm2, which can achieve >95% beam uniformity and >98% output power stability. At the same time, it also has additional functions such as processing temperature monitoring and in-situ detection of output beam quality.
Laser annealing is one of the indispensable key processes in the manufacturing of logic chip manufacturing with 28nm technology node and below. Such process heats the wafer surface atomic layer to more than 1000 °C in less than 1 millisecond, and then cools rapidly, to effectively reduce wafer electrode defects in the process, and to improve product performance and production yield. With the development of semiconductor manufacturing technology and the improvement of Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) design and manufacturing capacity, laser annealing technology has gradually replaced traditional furnace annealing and has become the mainstream technology in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. Compared with the conventional annealing technology, laser annealing has a lot of advantages, such as selective heating, closed-loop temperature control, high power density and stable energy output. It is suitable for various annealing processes such as uniform temperature annealing, peak annealing, and flash annealing.

The UV Line for Solid State Laser Lift-Off (LLO) from Focuslight Technologies has been successfully used for years in the lift-off field of OLEDs in the production of flexible mobile phone displays.
The development team at Focuslight has now enhanced the optical design far enough that the Gaussian profiles can be turned into a line with a length of up to 1000 mm and a width of 30 µm. The new features include significantly steeper edges and a wider intensity maximum. This allows an increased productivity by more than 30%. In addition, the sensitive OLEDs are subjected to lower thermal loads (lower ash value), yields are higher, and the OLED displays produced have a longer lifespan.
For the laser lift-off process of displays, we offer UV-Lines with different line lengths from 100 mm to 1000 mm. In addition to complete systems with long lines for integration into production, Focuslight also offers cost-effective systems with shorter lines, which can be used in advance in the process development.
