Technica Optical Components releases New High Temperature FBG Sensors for operation to +1,000 Degrees Celsius
Technica Optical Components is pleased to announce its significantly expanded family of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) based Temperature Sensors for operation in environments to +1,000 Degrees Celsius.
The company's original family of temperature sensors to +300 degrees Celsius is well established worldwide for various applications in civil engineering, industrial, transportation, medical, and other fields. Technica then expanded its portfolio of temperature sensors with its introduction of the T98 high temperature fiber Bragg gratings to +1,000~°C in 2017. Since then, the company has diligently developed its advanced thermal packaging technologies and combined them with its state-of-the art high-temperature optical fiber sensors manufacturing technologies. The result is the release of several new high-temperature optical sensors, packaged in ceramic and/or stainless steel materials, which expand the family of High Temperature Fiber Bragg Gratings (HTFBG) based temperature sensing probes available in the market to address applications where the temperature may rise to +1,000°C.
The daisy-chained HTFBG embedded sensors are ultra-small and are designed for use multi-sensing-point applications with the added requirement of minimal intrusion. Available with gold, copper, aluminum, polyimide, or acrylate fiber coatings, or as coating free fiber sensors, depending on the desired temperature rating and application details, and then further packaged into ceramic, stainless steel, or Inconel probes, with hermetically sealed tips, and with calibration service available upon request. Wide selection options for the sensing probe lengths, diameters, and number of temperature sensing points available.
Immune to EMI, lightning, and ATEX compliant for use in explosive environments. Ready for direct mounting and the installation is fast, easy and intuitive. Fabricated using original and licensed proprietary state-of-the-art laser manufacturing technologies and product designs.

Whether the FBG is to be built-up into a custom array, into a special cable sensor, into a packaged strain, temperature, pressure, angle, displacement, or other type of sensor, or into an optical communications cassette together with other optical devices according to our customers' designs, we are well prepared to manufacture!

Premium quality fiber Bragg gratings and FBG arrays for customized sensors, polyimide-coated sensors to 300 °C, gold-coated hermetically sealed sensors, small-diameter FBGs, radiation hard/proof sensors, tilted FBGs, and high-temperature FBG sensors to 1000 °C. We also produce FBG matched pairs for fiber lasers and athermal FBG wavelength references.
The process begins with a fiber Bragg grating or FBG array made by Technica. We then package the fiber(s) into specialized cables such as Armor (T110), GFRP (T130), Steel (T140), PEEK/TEFLON (T150), Gold (T160). We also package multiple FBG arrays within the the same cable in length ranges far beyond standard available technologies.
Premium quality fiber Bragg grating sensors and FBG array sensors in acrylate, polyimide, and gold coated fibers, specialized polyimide-coated sensors to 300 °C, high-T FBG sensors to 1,000 °C, radiation hard/proof sensors, bio-chem tilted FBG sensors and ultra-thin FBG sensors and arrays. We produce GFRP FBG cable sensors for embedding into concrete and other materials, Zeus PEEK FBG cable sensors for monitoring in transformers and chemically active environments, and vibration-sensitive cable sensors for security.

The T420 is a single-mode fiber (SM) based fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based packaged displacement sensor for use in environments from -20°C to +60°C, packaged to eliminate influences from the ambient environment. Ready for direct mounting steel construction exhibiting excellent wavelength to displacement linearity.

The T620 is a high-accuracy and sensitivity single-mode fiber (SM) based Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based packaged pore water pressure sensor for operation to 150 psi.

Packaged with two internal FBGs to eliminate influences from the ambient environment, the novel transducer mechanism yields a high sensitivity and absolute accuracy optical sensor. Ready for direct use in many applications. Calibration service available upon request. The T620 sensor handling and installation is fast, easy and intuitive. Delivers the advantages inherent to FBG sensors.
The TFP10 is an all-fiber micro Fabry–Pérot (uFP) sensor for use in applications to 700°C. Using laser micro- machining technology, the Fabry–Pérot sensing element is hermetically embedded in the core of the host single-mode optical fiber. The advanced design yields an all-fiber, ultra- compact, very-sensitive, and high-accuracy sensor ideally suited for precise strain or pressure measurements to 700°C.
The TFP10 sensors have been applied to a large number of tests and measurements in the field and are reported to be uniquely positioned among the best fiberoptic high temperature sensors available today.

Self temperature-compensation combined with tight dimensional and materials controls yield a new generation tilt sensor featuring excellent wavelength to angle linearity.
