Abstract: We now allow 100 (instead of only 10) product listings in the RP Photonics Buyers Guide even for suppliers not having our ad package.

Dr. Rüdiger Paschotta

Previously, suppliers being listed in the RP Photonics Buyer's Guide with a free entry only (i..e, not having our ad package) could only list up to 10 products. We have now decided to generously allow up to 100 product listings.

First of all, this decision benefits our users. For many photonics products, they can now find more suppliers. We put high emphasis on the benefits for the users, because by offering them the best buyer's guide, we strengthen its popularity, and that helps the suppliers as well.

Obviously, suppliers who have not yet decided for our ad package also benefit from that change. Of course, we wondered whether that could in the end hurt us – making suppliers think that the ad package is not so important if you can have so many products listed for free. It should be clear, however, that the chances to be recognized among so many suppliers will be far better if you engage: for each product, a supplier with the ad package appears in an extra list on the top in addition to the whole alphabetical list, and the product description with image appears in both lists. Therefore, when a user decides which of the supplier websites to visit, these suppliers will by far have the best chances to be selected. We hope that everybody will recognize that they will be much better off with the ad package.
